Day 125: Farewell to Summertime from the Chevin

RUN: 4.5 miles

After five days of short runs for a bit of recovery time, I was raring to go today.
Perhaps my confidence was a bit misplaced...

I set off straight up the Chevin and was completely exhausted rather quickly. By the time I'd reached the very top of the moor,  I'd stopped three times to catch my breath! It did involve a 500ft climb to be fair. Luckily there were plenty of opportunities to stop and take some nice photos up there.

It was the same route I did with my friends on Day 77, when it seemed far easier! I obviously need some company to spur me on to take the effort up a notch.

So a bit of an ambitious, start-stop, tough run, but it's another 4.5 miles in the bag for the last day of British Summertime.
Clocks go back tonight, so it's all darkness from here on in.

Here's a nice autumnal sunset view from the Chevin down into misty Guiseley. Bye bye, Summertime.

Day 124: Brrrrr it's cold out there

RUN: 1.3 miles

Well the temperature drop we were warned about at the beginning of the week has well and truly arrived. I hear there's a chance of some snow on the way - I hope not!
With temperatures hovering around the 2C mark, I just headed out for a quick jog - the last in my little 'taking it easy' stint.
Hopefully I'll get some longer runs in this weekend, as long as the snow's not knee-deep!
Come back, summer!

Day 123: A brush with the law

RUN: 1.1 miles

Just a quick run out after tea - still taking it easy, hoping my legs will recover a bit and feel stronger by the end of the week.

This was the scene as I set off. From what I could gather, the policeman was tearing a strip off a taxi fare dodger. Not very exciting, but It's the biggest drama to happen at White Cross for a little while, so I thought I'd take a sneaky picture for you...

Just a quick one-miler tonight after a hectic day

Day 122: A new milestone - 300 miles

RUN: 1.2 miles

Yey! 300 miles into my 1,000-mile journey - I could have reached Aberdeen or Plymouth from Leeds by now.

Anyway, here's a little YouTube video I found that demonstrates why I'm doing all this and to inspire me on to do the next 700 miles...

Here's my 1.2 miles to that takes me up to 300

Day 121: One third of the way!

RUN: 2.0 miles

121 days down, 244 to go - one third of the way (days-wise) today! With marathon and half-marathin training on the horizon, something tells me that was the easy third.

A morning run today, and the usual troubles. It's like I'm running in a different body when I go first thing - a really unfit body. Breathless, heavy legs and a grumpy, bad attitude - not a good combination!
These races are all morning affairs, with 10am starts, so I'd better get used to getting moving in the morning or I'm going to be a bit stuck. 10am isn't exactly the crack of dawn though, so I'll just have to get up really early and get those cobwebs blown away.

Here's my two-mile run for today. I was hoping to make it to 300 miles today, but I flaked out, so I'll leave that milestone for tomorrow.

Day 120: One little mile on a mild Monday

RUN: 1.4 miles

Just taking it easy with a short run today - I think I'll have a week of short-ish runs this week.
My legs have been protesting a bit, so it's time to take a little 'rest'.
It's still very foggy today, but quite mild so I can't complain. I saw the weatherman warning of a temperature drop later in the week, so I'm bracing myself for some wintry runs.

Here's today's quick trip

Day 119: Foggy fun on Sunday

RUN: 5.8 miles

A bit of a longer run on a very autumnal day today. The fog was quite bad, but at least it wasn't raining. Here was the view as I headed up the driveway of the former west riding pauper lunatic asylum - High Royds. Eerie!

I tried again to run with boyfriend Andy, but failed again - his legs are longer and he goes too fast for me at the moment. So we did two miles together and went opposite ways for the final four. I met him again half way round. Here he is emerging from the fog in Menston.
