Day 83: Plane spotting at Yeadon Tarn

RUN: 4.1 miles
Planes spotted: 0

Today I've been back to Yeadon Tarn to do a few miles. I really want to hit 200 miles this weekend, and before I set out today I had 8.2 miles to go and I managed to do half of that today - so hopefully I can do the same tomorrow and reach my milestone before the end of week 12.

The tarn is a great place to run because it's nice and scenic, there are plenty of people about enjoying themselves and it's right next to the Leeds Bradford Airport runway. It's great when the big planes come wooshing overhead - they make a really great, really loud noise. So today I thought I might try to take a picture of a plane landing or taking off for my blog.
This is what I managed to take... see the the tail fin in the middle?

Haha. Two rubbish photos in a row! I'll try to get a good one next time.

My boyfriend Andy and his friends have run more than seven miles, cycled 48 miles and kayaked one mile today and are doing fantastically at the halfway point of the two-day Coast to Coast challenge in Scotland. Well done Andy, Tim and Luke. Very proud.

Day 82: Keeping cool on a windy, windy day

RUN: 3.0 miles

The wind is really strong today, so thought I might get swept away on my run round Menston.
I'm still building up my miles after my sick days this week, so tried three today, which felt good.
I think the windy weather helped me, if anything - it kept me nice and cool. I think I'm going to prefer running on the cooler days ahead to the the warm, sunny days of summer. I bet I'll be cursing the cold, cold weather in winter though.
I took this picture to demonstrate how windy it was. Haha! (It's hard to show wind on a photo, especially in the dark!)

My boyfriend Andy is running, and kayaking across Scotland tomorrow for the Coast to Coast challenge, so fingers crossed for good weather up there! Go Andy!   Here's my run and info for today

Day 81: Lovely evening to take it easy

RUN: 2.2 miles

I headed out aiming to do a couple of miles tonight, and imagined I might struggle, still recovering from a couple of days with not much food and all that. But actually I felt quite good and the distance felt like an easy stroll. I'm pleased with that, and it bodes well for a few good runs over the weekend.
So I'm feeling a lot better, and so is the weather. From what I saw from the comfort of my bed, the last couple of days have been pretty wet. This evening was lovely and this sunset sky made me want to get out and about. There is a cool wind, though - autumn is on the way.

Here's my route round to Guiseley Morrisons and back to White Cross - got to stick to the main roads now on these dark evenings

Day 80: On the mend, back on the road

RUN: 1.2 miles

Still poorly sick today. This afternoon I managed to eat a little food at last, which made me feel a bit better.
So I left it until quite late this evening to try running. It was the last thing I wanted to do, but on the other hand I really wanted to get back to it after yesterday if I possibly could manage it.
So just one mile. It was very exhausting for such a short distance, but it's only to be expected having only eaten a bread roll in two days!
Next mission is to eat well, sleep well and get my energy levels back.

Day 79: Disaster strikes - sick, sick, sick!

RUN (walk): 1.0 miles

Today I hit a hurdle. I did anticipate that I would be ill at some point during the year, but I hadn't banked on it being so soon.
I have a tummy bug, and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. A day off work and lots of keeping very still and not eating has not made me feel any better.
I phoned my mum at lunchtime and she offered to come over. She came round this evening and helped me drag myself out of bed and out for a walk. Running was certainly not on the cards tonight. But I couldn't bear to give up on my full challenge, so I had to do a mile no matter what.
I'm pretty disappointed that I haven't run tonight, but I still made a massive effort to go out and fulfil my commitment ,even though I felt really really dreadful. It's been probably the biggest effort I've made since I started running.
I thought the fresh air might make me feel a bit better. It didn't. Hope I feel better soon.

Here's tonight's one-mile walk :-(

Day 78: A quick lap round the block before tea

RUN: 1.8 miles

Having to squeeze in a run between work and tea at my mum and dad's tonight, I just did a quick couple of miles. It's getting dark really early now. Well it seems that way compared to the light nights I've been used to.
The clocks go back in about six weeks, so that will mean no chance of running before it gets dark during the week. The sun is setting before 7.30pm now, so the nights are certainly drawing in. It's going to be a loooong autumn/winter.

Here's my quick trip round the block

Day 77: Three run a very warm five miles

RUN: 4.9 miles

I met up with Amy and Donna for a run today. We set off at about 10.45am, and the weather was glorious. Too glorious for running, you could say.
So we headed for high ground - Otley Chevin again - to make sure we could be nearest the sun and really sweat it out - I. Was. Roasting!
Again, I didn't help myself by wearing black and not eating very healthily for the past few days.
It was warm work but it was an enjoyable run on a lovely scenic route with good company. There were plenty of people making the most of the lovely weather up on the Chevin too.
We even overtook some cyclists going uphill! Go girls!

Here's our 4.9-mile route up the Chevin and down through Guiseley.
I should also add that Donna and Amy did an extra 0.8 miles - they ran back to Donna's house but I gave up at my own front door.
