Day 167: Struggling with the heat while running an errand!

RUN: 2.3 miles

Well the weather this evening was practically tropical compared to the recent frosty conditions - seven degrees!!
I must admit it was a bit too warm for me now I'm used to the colder evenings. Phew!

Hot, hot, hot(!)

I killed two birds with one stone this evening and ran to boyfriend Andy's parents house in Menston to pick up his inhaler - we're planning a long run tomorrow so he'll probably need it. About 10 miles - wish me luck!

Day 166: Leg hurting so just a little one for Friday

RUN: 1.0 miles

Just a short one today. My right leg has been pulling and twinging a bit again so I'm making sure I stretch it off properly, but it's a slight worry. Let's just hope it sorts itself out like it did before. Best get the compression socks out again.

Day 165: First snow, let's hope it's the last

RUN: 3.1 miles

Rather windy and cold tonight. I tried to make it out inbetween sleet showers, and luckily managed it for the most part. It did start snowing at one point - still not enough to force me into the gym, though.

Here's a photo of the snow... good ey? Hehe.

With only 17 days to go until the halfway point of my challenge, I've done some calculations and worked out that if I ran 4.5 miles each day, then I'd reach 500 miles by December 23.

But realistically, the next few weeks are going to be pretty busy for me, so I think even the three-mile average run will be a stretch. There could be quite a few short runs on the cards.

Here's today's effort

Day 164: Still up and running with the hardcore few

RUN: 2.2 miles

A run round the block today.

Since the weather - and especially the temperature - has taken a turn for the worse, there has been noticably fewer runners on the streets of Guiseley. The runners that I do see these days tend to be the same hardcore few - the funniest thing is I'm one of them!

On the 'home straight' tonight I got a bit ambitious and decided to catch up two women running on the opposite side of the road. I caught them up, overtook them and... almost threw up. I think I'll stick with my own pace from now on.

Day 163: A morning run of two halves

RUN: 2.5 miles (1.08 + 1.43)

Another morning run today ahead of a day of Christmas shopping with my mum.
As you might know from my previous whinges, I am no fan of morning running, and today was no exception.
Even though I only managed two and a half miles, it still feels like quite an achievement.
Luckily the icy patches are getting fewer, but I'm still watching my step very carefully.

Accidentally managed to save my run again, while deciding which route to take - so the link is in two halves. Oops! Here's the first half of today's run and the second half!

Day 162: Those new shoes look familiar

RUN: 1.0 miles

Back to work today after a week off.
It was rather tiring getting up early when I've become used to a nice lie-in, so just a very short run up the road and back this evening.

My new trainers arrived this morning.
They say trainers last around 500 miles before they stop being cushioning and supportive enough. So since that's my next big milestone I thought I'd make the investment.

I've got the same trainers as before because I like them, I know they do the job and I want to stick with the tried-and-tested trainers to avoid any foot catastrophes. (Plus I spotted a bargain online!)
The new ones are half a size bigger as when my feet swell a bit on longer runs my toes get a bit squished and rub into blisters.
So I'll start to phase the new ones in soon.

Spot the difference. That's correct, the one on the right is half a size bigger!

Here's today's little run

Day 161: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

RUN: 3.8 miles (2.07 + 1.77)

I was very excited to get our Christmas tree up this weekend, and I finished decorating it before going out for tonight's run.
I'm not the only one who's been unpacking the decorations and trimming up for the start of the festive month... Tonight's run felt rather Christmasy with plenty of lights up along my route through Menston.

It's still very icy and I was turned back at one point because there had been some sort of an accident.
I tried to find an alternative way round and ended up going round in circles for a bit.
I had another little mishap when I took a picture and ended up saving my route on MapMyRun. So I started the GPS again, and that's why there are two routes for today, rather than one.

Here's the first half of today's run
and the second half!
